I'm looking for PD footage of 9/11. Do you know of any specific title(s) I can search? When I put 9/11 in the search engine I get 500 titles--arg!

I'd appreciate if you or anyone knows of specific titles of films containing PD footage.

Subject: abc and brief documentaries
I watched the tv all day of september 11. at the end of pete jennings broadcast, if i remember correctly, and without any kind of introduction, a series of brief documentaries was broadcast.

i don't recall the order but one after the next a 5 min documentary about the atom bomb, another about hitler et al, another about ml king being assassinated. does anyone remember the others documentaries, any media commentary on this ? or does anyone have a copy of these ?

Subject: how can this be "public domain"?
I don't wanna rain anyone's parade, and I thank the submitter for helping to stock archive.org, but I have a question as to whether this can actually be labeled public domain. I have not watched it, but it seems to be just a compilation of network news on the day of wtc 911 or shortly thereafter.

I am not sure such a work would qualify as public domain. Yes, you can have some footage as fair use on your own creation, but I doubt there is enough original work on this, or that there are enough different networks contributing to qualify.

I am just guessing, anyway. I am not a lawyer, etc.

I think this is a nice contribution to the archives, but for those who want to use this as part of their own creation, it could possibly be a problem if you were to use the whole thing. Now there is some WTC 911 video that is PD that was created by the federal govt, and that is here on the archives. I would think that one would be safe to use, and you could use the whole thing, too. IANAL, etc.
